When my wife and I purchased our dream home, we were surprised to find that the kitchen cabinets, while functional, had basic, cheaply made doors that didn’t match the elegance of the space. One weekend, we decided to replace and customize the shaker doors ourselves. We carefully measured, cut, and painted each door to match perfectly—and the transformation was remarkable. That simple DIY upgrade completely elevated the kitchen’s look and feel, and we were amazed at how much value it added.

 

That experience inspired us to help others achieve the same transformation with high-quality, accessible replacement doors.

Tools Needed:

 

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Paper

 

 

1. Measure Height

 

  • Place the tape at the top edge of the door and extend to the bottom edge.
  • Record the measurement.

 

 

2. Measure Width

 

  • Measure across the door from one side edge to the other.
  • Record the measurement.

 

 

3. Measure Thickness (Optional)

 

  • Measure the door’s thickness.
  • Typical interior doors: 1 3/8”
  • Typical exterior doors: 1 3/4”

 

 

4. Double-Check

 

  • Re-measure to confirm accuracy.

The name “Landen” reflects that special time, while “Bleu” was chosen simply for its elegance and unique feel. Together, they capture the spirit of our business: personal, distinctive, and crafted with care.

 

With over 20 years of experience in carpentry and woodworking, I have specialized in shaker doors and cabinets. What began as a personal DIY project in our own home—customizing and upgrading our kitchen doors—grew into a mission: to make high-quality, precision-crafted replacement doors accessible to others.
